We see it everywhere,
That emptiness surrounding the streets,
Empty lots where houses once stood tall are reminders of yesterday.
This city is built in a circle,
The richest in the center and out in layers.
We are in a subtle war with our neighbors.
People are getting pushed further and further away,
But being contained within the city limits.
We are being trapped, cornered, and quarantined
Because of our socio-economic status.
We can't remember the time when we could all live together.
We can't imagine that day we were all united.
