The Lower Depths by Forfeit

Burnt Earth

by Forfeit· from The Lower Depths

Burn the flesh away, born anew, unworn and unused. Still inching closer to the truth. It slips through my hands, scorches my throat like desert sands. A million suns have razed this land. A barren scene. All life expired, the slate wiped clean. My hands and knees, the skin ripped away. It assures me I'm alive. I will survive, and I will deny. Blinded by pain. Embrace the hurt, release as hate. My be the master of my fate. Fight to my feet, iron-willed, refuse to defeat. The earth, my maker, I won't meet. Blistering, mercury rising, the endless sting. My eyes stay wide. No longer fearing, patiently I await the night. I will survive, and I will defy you. I've learned how to fight. I know how to survive my life. Burnt Earth.
