Red Tape
by Four Hundred Years· from Signal
As Of 1983 there were 2062 reported cases of what is now known as the AIDS virus. The Reagon Administration and the US Congress would not acknowledge nor offer sufficient funding for fighting what was then thought of as a gay disease. If they had acted in the early stages it is very likely the spread of the AIDS virus could have been stopped
You kept it silenced up
Can?t breath a word
You tried to tie it up
But red tape burns
It?s been hard enough standing up
For us not to be seen
While you?re been deciding if we exist
We?ve been fighting to live
Can?t bear to think of it
Blood in your veins
Once meant to give you life
Not takes away
(look at the sores on me)
(look at the wounds in me)
(you tried to hide what you can find with your own eyes)
Deny
You can?t wait the time is now
(can?t you see)
You can?t sleep, why won?t you wake up?
(can?t you listen)
How many dead, until you speak out
(I can?t breathe)
You can?t wait your time is gone
